The lid switch on the washer detects whether it’s opened or shut. If the lid is open then the Miele washer won’t start. The lid is secure during the process by a lock. Replacing the lock on the lid of a top-load Miele washer
Switch off the electricity and water by disconnecting the power cord from the outlet on your wall: Switch off the water supply valves to the Miele washer. Wear gloves for protection of your hands. Ask someone to assist you in moving your washer from the wall.
The top panel needs to be lifted: Cover the lid with tape so that it does not open and result in damage to the control console. To get access to the control console’s back take the Miele washer toward your. Remove the top screws from the 2 hinge brackets on the back of the Miele washer. Remove the wire cover and remove the screw. The top panel should be moved up about half an inch . Then, lift the front of the top panel about 1/4 inch. The panel will remain slightly elevated, push the panel back about quarter inch to free it from the brackets. The top panel is able to be lifted and positioned against the wall in front of the Miele washer.
Remove the lid switch/lock assembly from the top panel: With a 1/4-inch nut driver to remove the 2 mounting screws that secure the lid switch/lock assembly to the top panel. The lid switch and lock assembly can be taken off from the top panel. The lid switch and lock assembly remains attached to the wire harness. It is best to hang it from the wire harness until you are ready. To take the wire harness clips from the top panel, make use of the slot screwdriver. The white plastic wire harness clip is on the back of the panel. The wire harness is still connected to the electronic control board inside the console. The white plastic clip must be taken off from the top of the panel. Don’t pull or remove the wire harness at this time.
Open the control console: Lower the top panel, then put it on top of the Miele washer. Push the washer forward in order to reveal the back panel of the console. The 2 screws at the top of the back panel are taken out. Reverse the control panel and slide an edge of a knife into the right-hand corner of the control panel to loosen the mounting clip. Repeat the procedure on the other side to release the console. Set the console on the top of the Miele washer.
The lid switch/lock is off: Find the wire harness connector that connects to the lid switch and lock. It is located on the reverse of the control board. Release the locking tab and pull the lid switch/lock assembly wire harness plug from the receptacle of the electronic control board. The lid switch/lock assembly wire harness should be threaded through the hole in the back of your top panel. The lid of the washer can be opened by lifting the tape. Pull the lid switch/lock assembly from the washer. Tape the lid closed again.
Install the new lid switch/lock assembly: Attach the console to the clips for mounting. Move the Miele washer towards the wall behind. The top panel should be lifted and then place it against the wall to the rear, behind the Miele washer. The wire harness’s end must be placed into the hole in the top of the panel. Insert the white plastic wire harness clip into the hole and snap it into place. Wire harness is routed through the upper panel’s side and attach the wire harness using the clips on the side of the panel on top. Install the lid switch and lock assembly onto the top panel. Fix it with the mounting screws. Then, carefully lower the top panel. Set the brackets in motion by pulling the panel inwards about one quarter inch until it drops and the brackets become engaged. To secure the panel to the frame, push the panel back about quarter inch. To access the control board’s electronic circuit, release the clips and lift the console. Plug the wire harness into the correct connector on the electronic control board. Be sure to ensure that the locking tab snaps into place.
Install the console once more: Set the console on top of the top panel, then install the mounting clips to secure it onto the top panel. Install the screws on top of the back panel and then tighten the screws.
Install the screws for the back panel: Screws back into the hinges at the rear of the control console. These screws should be tightened. The tabs should be positioned on the left side. Next to align the slots to the left. Place the mounting screw. Tighten the mounting screw to secure the wire cover in the right position.
In order to restore power and water: Switch on the water supply valves. Connect the Miele washer to the outlet. Restore the Miele washer in the original location. You should now be able to replace the lid switch/lock assembly on top-load Miele washer. If the lid switch or lock isn’t working properly and the light on the lid lock is flashing, it may suggest a need for replacement.
